I signed into Microsoft's Volume License site and downloaded an image for Office 2007. It gave me the option to download via Download Manager (Recommended) or via Web. I chose download manager. It launched the install for a program called Download Manager. It downloaded the ISO named:
* This is the original Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit (Volume License) ISO. * Unattended Installation with Prompt repair option. * This Windows XP is updatable out of the box and Valid WGA CD-Key is already inserted and no Windows XP Activation needed and a WGA crack will be also installed. Windows XP SP3 volume license key genuine and activated, still getting 'You may be a victim of Software Counterfeiting' message! ( Noel, if you see this, please ignore. I posted the same problem in Social, just to cast a wider net.
SW_DVD5_Office_Enterprise_2007_W32_English_1_PA_BP_MLF_X12-19574.ISO The image finished downloading and it says under Save As: C:Usersusername.domainDocumentsSW_DVD5_Office_Enterprise_2007_W32_English_1_PA_BP_MLF_X12-19574.ISO But when i browse to that location there's nothing there. When I click Launch it launches my DVD burning software and burns successfully. I cannot for the life of me locate SW_DVD5_Office_Enterprise_2007_W32_English_1_PA_BP_MLF_X12-19574.ISO on my computer.

Windows Search is worthless and I've enabled every option I can find for searching NON-indexed, hidden, and system files. I've gone into advanced settings and told it to search system folders when searching non-indexed locations. I've enabled hidden files and folders from the view menu. And nothing.

Can I activate Windows XP Pro installed from Retail (or VL) media with OEM key? 2 answers
I've rebuilt an old laptop for a friend that had WinXP Pro installed. I downloaded an ISO from my MSDN subscriber account because I figured that's a safe and legal way to get the ISO, and I'd just use the license key from the label on the bottom of the (Dell, FWIW) laptop.
The download wasn't marked as a volume license edition or anything, but could it be they've done something to the MSDN ISO such that it can't be used with even a legal retail key?

From bitter experience, I understand that Dell laptops use a custom build image, which pulls the key from the BIOS (or somewhere else hard-coded). I think your only option is to aquire a Dell XP Pro installation CD..
